Parking on verges opposite bottoms entrance to Sywell country park
Reported in the Verges - Damaged by Vehicles category anonymously at 09:51, Tue 7 July 2020
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2188962.
Cars are causing the verge to be just mud, also so many cars try to park here they stick out and cause a dangerous situation being on a blind bend on a fast road. Bollards or something similar needs to be put on the verge to still allow walker’s through but to prevent parking and to prevent an accident

Thank you for using our Street Doctor Service. Reports of this nature are becoming more common with an increase on vehicle ownership, especially in built up areas or near recreational facilities where parking is at a premium. The consequence of this is that many roads are not designed to cater for parking which leads to indiscriminate parking and a failure to observe the highway code. Unfortunately Northamptonshire Highways do not have the financial resources to continually reinstate grass verges on the basis of looking unsightly and as such we are unable to consider remedial works such as bollards, hard standing or other preventative measures with intervention only occurring in exceptional circumstances regarding the safety of road users or pedestrians. It is not at this time an offence by law to park a motor vehicle, other than a heavy goods vehicle, on a grass verge unless it is prohibited by a Traffic Regulation Order or byelaw or causing obstruction. Unfortunately in instances such as these the Authority relies on motorists to park in a sensible and considerate manner.
