Open water gulley Rugby Road, Barby
Reported in the Blocked/Damaged category anonymously at 17:34, Fri 10 July 2020
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2194907.
Please refer to previous Fixmystreet Ref 2154148 Curiously this is categorised as "Closed" without any explanation nor any responses to my questions. You claim " These gullies have been logged and will be addressed as part of our cyclic cleansing programme during 2020" As we are half way through 2020 and no evidence of any previous cyclic cleansing I have to question what that actually means!!! Above photo is the current state of the ditch after a brief growing spell where I haven't maintained it (as shown in previous report). When I maintain the verge I dispose of the waste in the green bin which I am charged for -- what irony - do your job and pay for the privilege!! I require some answers: 1. Do you think I should be maintaing the ditch? If so please explain your reasons? 2. Do any other residents maintain the drains in the streets and ensure they remain clear for drainage? 3. Why does the Parish Council only cut a small strip of the grass and refuse to cut around the gulley, and, who do they think should cut the vegetation? 4. Are you aware that if the gulley blocks ( including the entry and exit pipes) then in extreme weather the back up floods into the cellars of my neighbours? 5. What does cyclic cleansing Mean? 6. Why don't you answer any questions? The gulley is full of sludge, the outlet pipe is also filling with sludge and the vegetation is likely to get out of control and not only conceal the gulley (Danger!!) but exacerbate the problem. In addition it is unsightly!! IT IS NOT MY PROBLEM. Your response to the original complaint (Ref 2154148) was wholly unacceptable. Perhaps if your agent completing the report could spell MAINTENANCE then perhaps I would have some confidence in knowing you knew what it meant!!
