Horse Jumps directly onto public footpath
Reported in the Obstruction (Not Vegetation) category anonymously at 23:18, Tuesday 21 July 2020
Sent to Northamptonshire County Council less than a minute later. ref: 2211077.
The landowners have recently constructed horse jumps in the hedge and fence alongside the public footpath. There are now 5 jumps with the take off / landing area right on the footpath. If and when the jumps are to be used then there will be a serious danger to anyone using the footpath. I suggest that the 5 jumps are fenced off to prevent their use and that if required to be used then the footpath is closed temporarily and marshalls stationed to warn pedestrians. Notice would presumably need to be given. This footpath is in regular use by dog walkers and recently by family groups with small children. A horse jumping over the fence or hedge onto the footpath would be a serious hazard. The jumps have been constructed near the end of the first field from the road and in the third field.
