  • One of our engineers has attended site and checked operation of the detection and the operation of the arrow. The right turn arrow will only appear once there is more than 3 vehicles waiting to turn right. Vehicles should move forward crossing the stop line and entering the junction once the full green appears on Moulton Lane, to occupy the right turn waiting area and the space between it and the stop line. Once vehicles clear the waiting area and turn whilst the full green is on and no further vehicles move forward to turn right the signals will assume there is no one waiting to turn and cancel the demand for the right turn arrow. The arrow will only appear when it is needed in order to reduce delays and improve the efficiency of the junction. It is expected of drivers, that when there are only a couple of vehicles waiting that they complete the turn when there is either a gap in the oncoming traffic or once the signals have gone to red. Drivers waiting to turn in the middle of the junction are permitted to continue once the signals have turned red provided that they have already crossed the white stop line. Whilst we have been monitoring the junction, we have on numerous occasions witness drivers failing to drive into the waiting area when the green signal is on and sit at the white stop line. Drivers must move forward into the junction and take up the position to turn right in order for the signals to recognise that they are there and wanting to turn. If drivers do not move forward the arrow will not come on.
