Timing issue
Reported in the Request Timing Review category anonymously at 12:43, Fri 31 July 2020
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2224346.
At the crossing to Abington square, York road and the Wellingborough road the timing of the lights in the morning is an issue. Twice now I've crossed as soon as the green man comes on but when I'm halfway across it turns back to red and the cars start to drive at me. Twice now I've almost been hit despite following the crossing. I've noticed it in the last few months as I've been starting work earlier. It's really worrying as the cars just think that you've not paid attention to the lights so will drive at you. Especially for the elderly or children I worry that they may get hurt. Please can this be looked into as soon as possible. At other times of day it's fine but it seems to be when crossing before 7.30.

Thank you for contacting Northamptonshire Highways. An engineer has checked the site and found signals to be operating correctly. Due to the type of crossing installed at this location, it is normal for the Redman to come on whilst users are still on the crossing to prevent others starting to cross as there is no flashing green or blackout period. This Junction is being fully refurbished in the next few months and will be upgraded to the latest standards and technology which will improve crossing times
