Cycle path overgrown, very uneven and dangerous
Reported in the Pothole / Failed Reinstatement category anonymously at 13:40, Tue 4 August 2020
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2230342.
The path is in very poor repair, where you ride a cycle down the side of the on ramp to the crossing point the path is narrow, overgrown and excessively bumpy. The crossing point is extremely dangerous from a standing start with the speed that cars are coming off the roundabout and the position that you have to take due to the narrowness of the path.
I would suggest that the crossing point needs to be further back so that you ride onto the roundabout itself and then further round traffic coming off the A14 needs to wait for you to pass rather than the current arrangement of having to stop and dismount again and then try to get across.

The vegetation overgrowth will be programmed for cycleway maintenance. Re-aligning the current crossing area would not be a priority from a road safety perspective. There is no collision history at this location and improvement measures have to be directed to the most pressing needs on the road network.
