This drain is blocked and I reported it on 25/6/2020, then I spoke to a young lady in the office 4/7/2020 as it had not been cleared and was forecast thunderstorms and heavy rain again that day. She told me that a road sweeper would be sent to clear the gulley, I explained it wasn't the gutter but the drain itself and she told me "yeah that's what we call the gutter, a gulley. I will get someone out today to clear it". I don't think she really understood the problem so I logged it again. On 16/7/2020 I had the pleasure of speaking to a very patronising man called Andy from the council who basically argued with me over what a gutter and gulley was, either way I'm not a drainage engineer (which is what I told him) and the drain opposite my property is blocked, when is rains the road floods and all the water runs down onto my property as it is lower than the road (again I'm not a drainage engineer but I know water runs downhill!). He told me to look at the report as that told me when it will be cleaned (once a year, end of July) but nothing done 25/7/2020 so I added another update showing the water flooding, and then I subsequently swept up all the debris washed off the road onto my property AGAIN. Today I check the drain and it is still full of soil, leaves and other debris which would appear to indicate it hadn't been cleaned. So I look at my report and it's closed with the problem being marked as fixed. I rang again and spoke to the very helpful Ibrahim who raised this report, I said I assume they would need to lift the actual grating on top of the drain to clear it or it should at least look half clean; he neither agreed or disagreed, but it's a fair assumption to make is it not? Just to be clear the problem is a blocked drain, not the gutter, when it rains heavily the water floods over the road and onto my property(see photos on report 2173005). If the water levels get higher than previously it will flood my property by entering through the air bricks. If this happens I will then pass this to my insurance company to sort out damages with you as this is something that can be avoided if you take responsibility and clear the drain which belongs to you.
