Blocked drain causing overflowing water during rainfall. Located in road (High St Irthlingborough) outside Chilli House
Reported in the Blocked/Damaged category anonymously at 17:22, Wed 12 August 2020
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2242436.
This drains edges were repaired following a reported fault Ref 2001301 in February 2020. However I think the original damage was caused by the drain being blocked. The drain regularly has standing water in it following rainfall and regularly overflows during rainfall, the water then runs across the road to the opposite drain.(see photo) There have been several occasions when the water is flowing along the path in front of 35,High Street during heavy rainfall because the opposite drain cannot cope with the volume of water. Could you unblock the drain outside the Chilli House Indian Restaurant please. I have concerns that the overflowing water will enter 35,High Street during heavy rainfall.

Please also note the erosion damage caused by the regular washing over of water raised by cars passing. There is a crack in the retaining blue brick wall and the pavement is degrading. The blue brick wall edges by the steps are also badly damaged by the water being splashed against them. I retrieved the bricks that have fallen off into the road and am keeping them safe in the hope that you will also arrange for this damage to be repaired. The pavement drains on the opposite side are also full of silt due to lack of annual maintenance and is exacerbated by the extra overflowing water.
