Soil and leaf litter blocking path at dangerous narrow section, see report ref: 2228645

Reported in the Weeds category anonymously at 16:24, Thu 13 August 2020

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2244103.

Thank you for replacing the drain cover as an interim fix for report ref: 2228645.

As noted, in an update to the earlier report I have removed the extensive weeds and brambles that were growing along the edge if the road. However, the soil and leaf litter forces pedestrians to walk out into the road, especially when wet. It is up to 40mm deep in places and there is too much for it to be practical for me to remove it. The first photo shows the new drain cover fitted earlier this week and how the soil and leaf litter has washed down and collected at the edge of the path and blocked the drain. As can be seen it represents a significant hazard at this blind corner, especially for people with pushchairs or poor mobility. Thanks again for the quick action on the cover, it will probably help in the short term, but difficult to tell whole it is mostly hidden by the rubbish.

  • Six months on and still no action has been taken. With the growing season starting weeds will start growing in the soil and leaf litter, which will further block the area where pedestrians have to walk. The drain half way up the road, which was reported as blocked in a separate report, is still completely blocked with soil. This exacerbates the problem of water cascading down the 'footpath' area when there is heavy rain.
