Thank you for your enquiry regarding parking issues along Sinclair Drive, Wellingborough. Please be advised that in the short term, it is Northamptonshire Police whom you should refer this enquiry to as they can enforce if there is an obstruction on the highway where it is deemed not possible for a driver to safely manoeuvre, pedestrians to pass unhindered along the footway, carriageway or that access to a public or private property is impeded where there are no parking restrictions present. Any concerns should be reported via the local Safer Communities Team by calling the non-emergency telephone number 101 or on the Northamptonshire Police website. In terms of how the County Council can assist with these issues we can consider formal parking restrictions within this area however in order for the team to investigate the possibility of this we would require you to complete a Parking Restriction Request form. In addition if you wish investigations to be made under this year’s parking review an application would need to be submitted by the end of August 2020, submission after this date will mean consideration will have to wait for the following years review in 2021-2022. Please visit the County Councils website using the following link https://www3.northamptonshire.gov.uk/ councilservices/ northamptonshire-highways/ parking/ Pages/ request-for-new-parking-restrictions.aspx for more information on the process and to submit an application. However I should point out that an issue like this is not uncommon in an industrial area and that should any restrictions be considered and/or implemented should all the Northamptonshire County Council criteria be met, it would like most likely simply displace the issue elsewhere. As you may be aware, parking restrictions have a Traffic Regulation Order behind them in order to make the restrictions legal and enforceable. The County Council is therefore required to follow a formal process, which includes consultation and potentially a period of dealing with any objections, before parking restrictions can be implemented.
