Stop HGV’s from turning here.
Reported in the Crash Barriers - Damaged / Missing category anonymously at 14:06, Fri 14 August 2020
Sent to Northamptonshire County Council less than a minute later. ref: 2245480.
Westfield/Northampton rd. This problem is ongoing, you replace barriers every time you move them back 6”. You need to place a HIGH KERB so HGV’s cannot make the turn. I’ve sent photos before, must be near a dozen times the council has replaced them, I would like to know how much that’s cost. Until someone gets injured I don’t suppose things will change.

This damage was done Sunday night 1/11/20, as you know I’ve reported this problem numerous times. All the council does is move the barrier back another six inches, making it even easier for large HGV’s to attempt the turn. All these incidents are caused by traffic going to Morrison’s store. It’s about time the council put up signage prohibiting HGV’s turning at that junction or better still a high kerb, which will make it impossible to turn. Apart from stupid hgv drivers, I hold you responsible for not even attempting to resolve this problem.

I haven’t suggested moving the barriers back at all!! I suggested putting in a HIGH KERB that would instantly stop HGV’s turning left. I stated that’s all the council are doing, moving barriers back 6” every time you replace them. A few years ago I asked for signage to be installed NO LEFT TURN For HGV’s at the bottom of Westfield road. Just think of all the tax payers money we would have saved.
