Persistant flooding to the edge of the road outside 17 Magee Street, NN1 4JT
Reported in the Blocked/Damaged category anonymously at 14:10, Fri 21 August 2020
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2256865.
The premises at 17 Magee Street is being refurbished for use as a distribution unit for a shoe factory just across the road, Permission has been sought and granted for a designated loading bay to be created outside the premises in the area of the photograph attached. The problem is that this section of the road, adjacent to the flat kerb floods and holds water every time we have a reasonable amount of rain. If this water is present it will obscure the loading bay markings and may cause problems with obstruction of the loading bay. Please can the problem be rectified before the loading bay markings are created.

The last update on this report is 10th September 2020. As three weeks have now passed please can we be provided with a further update and solution to this problem as we will shortly be in a position to carry out the loading bay markings on the road surface and we would prefer not to do this and then have the road dug up shortly afterwards.

As we are now almost at the end of October please can you advise if further investigations have been carried out? Is there a decision as to what is to be done to rectify this problem? When can we expect the required work to be carried out so that the loading bay road markings can be painted on the toad surface?

Works to the premises are almost complete but whatever works are being carried out are to the premises internally and have no bearing on the problem in the road. Once the building works are complete the loading bay will be required and currently it is constantly flooding whenever it rains Please can the required works to the road to resolve the flooding problem be carried out as soon as possible so that at the conclusion of the works to the property the lading bay can be marked and then brought into use

Hi good afternoon. This problem was reported in August 2020 and we explained at the time that the refurbishment of the adjacent property was well advanced and that the area with the problem had Highways permission for the marking out of a loading bay. We also explained that with the area under water whenever we had some rain the markings for the loading bay would be obscured and would then cause problems with parking within the loading bay area. I have submitted several updates but we see nothing other than 'in progress'. Please can you advise what progress is being made. AC Construction will be carrying out the markings for the loading bay as they are one of your approved contractors. Is it possible for you to request them to resolve the flooding problem and then carry out the road markings so that we do not end up with the road being marked and then dug up to carry out the works required and then having to be painted again. Please can we get his problem resolved? Regards Steve Rockall
