Bridleway blocked and dangerous

Reported in the Passage-Obstructed/Overgrown category anonymously at 23:26, Monday 14 September 2020

Sent to Northamptonshire County Council less than a minute later. ref: 2294825.

This bridleway has been temporarily closed as its dangerous to pass because of badger sets.

However, we have no other access to get round to carry on with this bridleway to Ashley as the farmers wont allow us to go into the field at the side of this bridleway.

We are being forced out onto the roads more and more due to losing bridleways and it's not safe.

Can an alternative route please be made or the existing bridleway be made safe?

  • Thanks for reporting this as you will know we are aware of the badge sett and does cause us major problems of it own. Ideally we want the bridleway to continue on the route where it is but would require the badger sett to be closed and we would have to carry out lots of surveys, gating the holes with special licences and collapsing sett but at huge expense of probably £30000 so as you can imagine we will try for alternatives first to see if the adjoining landowner would agree to a diversion which we have tried before but it's worth asking again. As you can imagine this is not a speedy process and will take some considerable time to resolve this is mainly due to certain times of the year when surveys can be carried out and when badgers are not having babies.
