No lane markings on roundabout
Reported in the Road Markings - Worn/Faded category anonymously at 11:52, Wed 16 September 2020
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2297508.
The A43/St Gregorys road roundabout is extremely busy at all times and there are no lane markings. This causes vehicles to cross over into the path of other vehicles as they maneuver the roundabout which very often causes drivers to sound their horns, this happens very often during the day and night and being a highly residential area it is very disturbing. I feel that marking the lanes would help from a safety perspective as well as reducing noise pollution for residents on what is already an increasingly busy road

This is a roundabout on a major route with 2 minor feeder arms from housing estates. It has been engineered with significant deflection obliging vehicles to enter and negotiate the circulatory at relatively slow speed. There have been no personal injury collisions recorded by the police over the past 3 years. Directional arrows and lane markings on a circulatory road surface are generally only implemented on strategic roundabouts with more than 2 running lanes and where considerable capacity is managed as a result of the convergence of major arterial routes e.g. Round Spinney roundabout. There are therefore no plans to install additional markings on this roundabout.
