Signs into & out of the sports arena/gym need replacing.
Reported in the Road Markings - Worn/Faded category anonymously at 06:34, Wed 23 September 2020
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2307593.
Residents in Olympic Way/Merrivale are constantly having to brake as vehicles drive straight out of the sports arena car park or don't signal on entering the car park so we wait at the chicane. Drivers don't seem to realise they are turning off a road onto another so don't stop or signal. A lot of drivers are parking along the top of Olympic Way opposite the park which is causing issues when drivers just pull out of the car park as a car is overtaking the parked cars as the road is clear when we start to overtake but ignorant drivers just pull out of car park & block the road as they don't look before pulling out - again they don't seem to realise they are pulling onto a road.

I also have had many near misses here, more so recently since the testing centre has been set up. The road markings need to be renewed and prominent signage

Thank you for your query to Northamptonshire County Council’s Street Doctor Service with regard to your concerns about traffic leaving the car park of the Kettering Conference Centre and parking issues in the area. An officer has visited the site and noted that the roadmarkings at the junction are very worn so we will arrange for these to be refurbished. It was also noted that the “Give way” sign as a driver exits the car park is of a very small size. This sign is on the Conference Centre land and is their responsibility so we will contact them to suggest that this is upgraded to a larger sign to make it more prominent to drivers exiting from the facility. If you feel that the introduction of formal parking restrictions (i.e.yellow lines) on Olympic Way / Merrivale close would be appropriate, and generally supported by the residents without just displacing the issues elsewhere, then an application form can be found on the following link to Northamptonshire County Council’s website https://www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/ councilservices/ northamptonshire-highways/ parking/ Pages/ request-for-new-parking-restrictions.aspx
