Large overgrown conifer trees overhanging onto footpath

Reported via desktop in the Obstruction (Not Vegetation) category anonymously at 08:42, Friday 23 October 2020

Sent to Northamptonshire County Council less than a minute later. ref: 2353654.

The trees running along the outside of Alumasc / Shield Aluminium Diecastings (From main entrance along the side of the factory at NN15 5JP), are overhanging onto the footpath and causing an obstruction. The trees are also encroaching into the property and starting to cause an issue with being able to open and close the main gate. These were cut by yourselves previously (ref. 892725). I believe this was made by Kettering Borough Council, as it was confirmed that the trees do not belong and are not on the Alumasc / Shield property boundary. Since these were cut back in late 2017 (please note only the bottom section of the trees were cut and the top half starting to hang down), nothing seems to have been done and the trees have clearly grown significantly and are once again causing obstructions as mentioned above, but will envisage this could soon cause an obstruction on the road as well.

  • NCC highways have never maintained these trees they were not planted by highways and are an obvious boundary feature to the property probably by a previous occupant the highway boundary is the centre line of the "hedge" and according to highway law the adjacent landowner is always responsible for boundary hedges. The position of the security fence is immaterial. If you would like to discuss this the highways switch board is 01604 883400.
