Stream flowing down road for 500m

A stream is constantly flowing down the west side of the road, then later crosses to the east This damages the highway with several potholes forming With sub-zero temperatures expected, that could be a wall to wall ice rink Is a land drain in need of maintenance to divert that stream?

  • Please can you tell me how this is to be repaired? Is it by making a ditch fit for purpose to take the surface water away from the road for instance? Knowing 500m of road has near constant water flow, what plans are there to increase winter gritting as this will become an 'ice rink' for weeks on end soon. Please advise on both issues.
