Cycle lane plastic posts damaged with reflective strip torn/missing on Rushmere Road

Reported via mobile in the Safety Bollard - Damaged/Missing category anonymously at 21:00, Mon 9 November 2020

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2379494.

These damaged plastic posts on the cycle lane are repeatedly being struck by vehicles (video evidence has been shared with NCC). As a result, the reflective wrap has been damaged, and at night, the orange posts are not visible.

There is clearly a problem with this design - is 30mph too fast? Is the road too narrow at the junction for this cycle lane to begin? Is bolder signage required (such as the temporary signs used when the lane is closed to be cleaned) to give motorists better warning?

Over half the posts are missing on this section now, and they just keep getting driven into.

I believe that it is not safe for cyclists, as they are at risk of these posts striking them with the way they, at times, catapult from the road.

Also, it is horrendous to hear them being driven into, as they make an almighty sound.

Removing them at the junction ASAP would stop this hazard and nuisance immediately.
