Speeding over Houghton crossing
Reported via desktop in the Damaged / Missing / Facing Wrong Way category anonymously at 15:46, Wed 11 November 2020
Sent to Northamptonshire County Council less than a minute later. ref: 2382695.
Cars coming down the road from Hanging Houghton are going fast not slowing down over Houghton crossing which is used by cyclists/ pedestrians who are using the Brampton Valley Way. This area has become very busy particularly with the “lockdown” in March, it remains very busy with the small car park full, cars parking on the side of road, in front farm gates. There are no warning signs to warn people driving that cyclists/ pedestrians are crossing. I am very concerned that one day there will be a accident/ fatality with a car versus cyclists. Perhaps putting a sign up before the crossing could alleviate the problem
Thank you for reporting a fault. We will use the information you have provided to assess and prioritise this fault in accordance with our published response times for fault reports.

Thank you for your query to Northamptonshire County Council’s Street Doctor Service with regard to your concerns about the safety of pedestrians and cyclists crossing the Brampton Valley Way at Hanging Houghton. For instances like this we have temporary High visibility signs warning of pedestrians in the road / crossing. Subject to the availability of a suitable post in the area, for the sign to be mounted on, we will arrange for one of these to be installed.
