Completely blocked drain and grating covered with road soil
Reported via desktop in the Blocked/Damaged category by Geoff Pullin at 15:36, Fri 13 November 2020
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2386155.
I repeat this report as I saw for the first time this year the drain gulley suction lorry team in the village on 9/11/20. They appear to have dug out the two drains either side up Chapel Lane to the east, but not found this one which is now covered, camouflaged and filled with road dirt swilled down the hill and now has to run and undermine the road surface down to the river gulleys. The report is a repeat of those reference numbers 2152411 and 2069756 which were closed "These gullies have been logged and will be addressed as part of our cyclic cleansing programme during 2020."

19/12/20: I have dug out the surplus accumulated verge road dirt to reveal the drain ironwork - at the lower end of the dotted white line across Brookside Lane where it joins Chapel Lane. Hope that helps!

Gully has not been totally blocked for many months despite, it appears, many reports by others. When it is blocked all the water coming down the hill on this side flows across the road in a wide swathe lower down. In freezing conditions this creates a thick sheet of ice across the road.

I'm not sure that it has been completely cleaned and cleared but I suspect another volunteer has had a go at it because for a few weeks water has actually been trickling down through it and the road beyond it has stayed dry.
