State of the road and footway

Reported via desktop in the Potholes / Highway Condition category anonymously at 09:32, Wed 18 November 2020

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2393336.

Windingbrook Lane between the roundabout and the golf club has deteriorated due to misuse and neglect. The road is covered in mud from the new housing construction site. The shingle footway (NW side) has been neglected for years and has turned to mud, impassable in wet weather, and the grass verge between it and the road has been destroyed by the CityFibre works, which dug it up and then scattered some grass seed on it in a drought, with no watering, so it didn't grow. the footway on the SE side is largely blocked by overgrown hedges. Pedestrians are forced to walk in the carriageway. The road is regularly being used for parking commercial vehicles - a coach almost every weekday and sometimes construction equipment at weekends.

  • More hedge cutting has been done but the west side footway is completely impassable de to mud, and people are walking in the road. Mud on the road from the construction site has got worse, despite ineffectual attempts to clean it. Potholes have appeared in the road surface.

  • The potholes are getting larger and larger due to lack of maintenance and the ever increasing use of the road by Bovis / Vestry Homes heavy vehicles. Likewise the promise of keeping the road clear of mud by Bovis / Vestry appears to have stopped.
