Lack of clarity about where the cycle way is

Reported via desktop in the Obstruction (Not Vegetation) category anonymously at 17:38, Sat 21 November 2020

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2399060.

If I cycle down Queensway to the High Street, where is the cycle way ? The blue sign points diagonally across the road but I thought it was along the same side. Could there be some more signs (there is one outside the Green Dragon pub), saying that cycling on other foot paths in the vicinity is not allowed ? Many children coming out of school cycle on the foot paths. Thanks.

  • The signs are pointing the wrong way. The cycle path is along the same side of the high street to the toucan crossing at The Queens Head. The route is difficult as it is severely restricted by the veg shop stalls on the pavement.

  • Apologies for the delay in replying, and thank you for making us aware of the issue with the signs, we have requested they be correctly aligned. The cycle route is along the Queensway side of High Street, then across the Toucan crossing near the Queen’s Head. The stalls outside the greengrocers are within permitted limits and the footway/cycleway is wide enough that people can pass although care may be needed at busy times as in any town centre. I hope this help to clarify the situation.
