Large wall approx 50-70 meters long that runs along High Street Blisworth up to the Grand Union Canal has been damaged

Sent to Northamptonshire County Council less than a minute later. ref: 2411805.

There is a large brick wall that is approx. 50-70 meters long that stretches from the grand union canal bridge that goes onto high street Blisworth. This wall forms part of the Grand Union Canal bridge. The wall has collapsed in places and is leaning against tree some parts have collapsed, dangerous to footpath users.

We are required to repair this damage within 24 months of notification, however we will ensure the repair is carried out within the defect period.

  • This damage needs to be repaired urgently. The temporary pedestrian walkway barriers have been repeatedly struck by vehicles. Also the temporary traffic lights dangerous for vehicles entering and exiting the Sun Moon and Stars driveway which is the only vehicle access for numbers 74 & 76 High Street.

  • Report that temporary barriers are leaving pedestrians in hazardous situation passing the damage, with several vehicles having hit the barriers. Please contact parish councillor when visiting to assess so she can meet official at the location.

  • Update 08/01/2021: Thank you for contacting Northamptonshire Highways regarding the temporary barriers protecting the vehicle damaged parapet. We will reposition the concrete barriers to protect pedestrians and review the temporary signals. The works to repair the damaged wall have been prioritised. We will update Blisworth Parish Council with dates of the repairs.Thank you for contacting Northamptonshire Highways.   • The traffic lights here seem to be totally out of sync. I walk past walking my dog everyday and the lights going out of the village seem to skip a green compared to the other 2 lights causing a larger amount of traffic to back up this side.

  • 2411805 UPDATE 14/01/2021 Thank you for contacting Northamptonshire Highways regarding the traffic lights. If vehicles jump a red light unfortunately this throws the light sequence out of sync. The lights have to go through a whole cycle to reset themselves. Our Traffic Management sub-contractor attends site each day to check the condition of the batteries and check the lights are working correctly.
