Blocked and damaged drain remains a cause of flooding
Reported via mobile in the Blocked/Damaged category by Martyn Eustace at 14:54, Tue 22 December 2020
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2443595.
I reported a blocked and damaged drain recently. Case number 2442835. I am advised that this case has been closed, without action, and with no further consultation with me. I have reported continuously that this area floods due to the drain being damaged and not functioning properly. The most recent flood was deep but just failed to reach a height where our property would have been invaded. As I pointed out to the engineer who came to inspect this morning, the run-off from the drain is partially blocked and insufficient to take the water away during heavy rain. Water therefore accumulates on the highway and on our property. Remedial works have been done on several occasions, supervised by David Coleman and the team, but have failed to sort out the underlying problem, which is that the drain needs a new outflow passing along the highway and into a field drain at the end of our property. I request that action is taken to finally resolve this problem and must hold highways financially responsible if the lack of action, after many reports of problems, results in water damage and flooding to our property. I look forward to hearing from you.
