Blocked drains causing water to collect under bridge

Reported via desktop in the Blocked/Damaged category anonymously at 17:34, Wed 23 December 2020

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2445455.

Yet again rain water is running down the road from the A509. Because the bridge is at the bottom of the hill the water runs past the cottages like a stream and collects under the bridge. This problem has been ongoing now for at least 12 months and although some work has been done action needs taking to rectify the problem once and for all. PLEASE GET IT SORTED.

  • Although the rain has now stopped water is still running down the road from the A509 causing flooding under the railway bridge. The level under the bridge earlier was about 2ft.

  • Whilst the drains have been cleared the water is still running down the road. It appears that the problem arises outside North End Farm as something appears to be blocked there. It has become worse since a new gate was erected at the driveway to the farm. The water runs down Furnace Lane and collects under the bridge. Although the rain was not particularly heavy yesterday the water was almost across the road directly under the bridge.

  • 30th jan called as yet again the under the bridge is flooded for the 3rd time this week and I can’t get out as I can’t take my car up the track. The problem seems to be worse since the new gate and concretes been payed at the farm half way up the track. Where they have done this has caused the water from the field being diverted onto the track and not go into the ditch as it did before. This is the area that needs to be sorted so the water can flow in to the ditch again.

  • Despite a recent visit by a person from highways when it was explained to him exactly what the problem was the water is still running down the road as before. When it is only raining a little the water runs down by the side of the road which is not too bad. However during prolonged or heavy rain water pours down the road like a fast stream. Please can something be done to resolve the matter as this has now been ongoing for over 12 months.
