Thank you for your report and we understand that this behaviour can cause damage and obstruction. We are currently experiencing high levels of reports and will inspect this location in the next 10 working days. Legally it is not an offence to park a motor vehicle, other than a Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV), on a grass verge unless it causes an obstruction of the highway or there are parking restrictions in place or a byelaw is in force prohibiting it.We ask all drivers to consider others and avoid causing issues. We also ask that residents avoid placing stones or planting on the verge to stop the parking. Whilst we appreciate the good intentions behind residents wishing to plant or place stones in the verge, the issue arises if there is either an accident, or damage to underground services (telecommunications cables etc).We do need to consider the safety of any additions to the verges and so, where we are made aware of any obstructions, we may have to remove them or ask residents to remove them. Driving across or along the the path is an offence and should be reported to the Police.

Thank you for your report. We have inspected this area and currently there are no safety issues with the verges although we will continue to monitor this through our safety inspections. We will consider the feasibility of installing additional posts to prevent vehicles driving onto the path/verge here. Any work that might be possible would be done in next financial year but this is dependent on resources available and also the relative priority of all the potential works that have been requested across the area as a whole.
