Damage to front wall, front door and front window of 14 Benefield Road caused by repeated watersplash from a pot hole.
Reported via desktop in the Potholes / Highway Condition category anonymously at 11:14, Monday 4 January 2021
Sent to Northamptonshire County Council less than a minute later. ref: 2460209.
A previous road repair immediately outside 14 Benefield Road has sunk. The result is that water accumulates whenever it rains (see picture) and whenever a car or truck or bus passes the water is splashed on to the front of the house. The front wall is now permanently wet and coloured black from the repeated splashes of water (see picture). Number 14 is only cottage in the row with this dramatic black discoloration. The splashes are high enough to start the window hinges rusting and are starting to affect the door. On the inside of the wall, the paint is peeling off (see picture) and the plaster is wet.
This is not the first time this has happened. Some years ago the problem became so bad that I had to replace the front door and repair the stonework at significant expense. I reported the problem and the road was repaired but it is this repair that has now sunk, causing the same problem as before. I reported this issue some time ago but no action was taken.
This problem is causing worsening damage to a Grade 2 listed building. Please repair the road asap. Thank you.
