Request removal of Dropped Kurb

Reported via desktop in the Damaged/Loose category anonymously at 12:17, Wednesday 13 January 2021

Sent to Northamptonshire County Council less than a minute later. ref: 2475648.

The Steel Works conversion has been complete for some time now and vehicular access is no longer needed to the front of the building but the dropped kurb remains in situ.

Not only is it unsightly but it also allows vehicles to stop here blocking the pavement. There is an issue of fly-tipping in the area and this also makes it easier for vehicles to park up and unload waste.

  • Thank you for your enquiry regarding the A428 Spencer Bridge Road. Unfortunately removing the dropped kerbing that originally provided vehicle crossover and access to the former wrought iron furniture business, and replacing it with a building-up of the length of footway and kerbing the roadside is currently not considered to be a priority for the local highway authority. However, should a future highway improvement scheme be planned for this area of Northampton, then your request can be considered. Parking restrictions are in place to establish ‘no waiting at any time’ and fly-tipping should be reported to the Northampton Borough Council Street Care Services. You can visit the Borough Council’s website for further information and/or you may wish to contact the Street Care Services at Northampton Borough Council directly between the hours of 9.00 and 5.00 by telephone on 0300 330 7000 or perhaps write to them at: Northampton Borough Council, The Guildhall, Northampton, NN1 1DE
