The drain outside number 23 Furnace Cottages is blocked with & covered in mud yet again.

Reported via mobile in the Blocked/Damaged category anonymously at 18:03, Sun 17 January 2021

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2484020.

The drain becomes blocked due to mud running down from the highway past 31 Furnace house to outside number 23 Furnace Cottages and beyond. The drain is completely covered in mud and is not visible. This happens on a regular basis and has not been rectified as yet and has to be continuously reported to you. Due to this problem not being addressed and the drain being left to become blocked the water levels become high on the highway and run onto my private property. Also due to the mud being left to accumulate on Furnace Lane from the byway and on Furnace Lane it becomes very slippery when having to walk on it when accessing my vehicle. It would be appreciated if this could be addressed and rectified as soon as possible before someone slips and is potentially injured. There is obviously a problem with the byway as water rushes down collecting mud which accumulates outside number 23 Furnace Cottages and blocking the drain outside number 23 Furnace Cottages on the highway, Furnace Lane.

  • The blocked drain outside no 23 Furnace Cottages, Furnace Lane has still not been addressed. This was first reported on 17 January 2021. We had rain yesterday after such a dry spell. Please let me know specifically when the drain will be unblocked and the mud cleared away.

  • I made an update towards the end of April that the drain outside my property, 23 Furnace Cottages still had not been unblocked, it is now towards the end of May. The status on the Council’s report was changed to ‘under investigation’. I reported the issue of the blocked drain and mud ruining down the byway causing the blockage back in January. Why has this taken so long to rectify and why has no one had the decency to contact me. We have had continuous rain for a number of days now - I sincerely hope my property does not became flooded which could be avoided. I have not taken any further photos as the drain is still covered in mud. It would be appreciated if someone from the council would have the common curtesy to contact me, I do not want a standardise response via this reporting system. I have provided my contact details.
