Parked cars past double yellow lines causing constant hazard
Reported via mobile in the Road Markings - Worn/Faded category anonymously at 17:17, Tue 19 January 2021
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2488972.
Cars always parked just past the new double yellow lines opposite the garage are causing a constant nuisance and hazard. Vehicles often don't give way to oncoming traffic, due to difficulty of seeing oncoming vehicles over the hill from behind the parked cars, and often impatience, it's quite common to have someone pull out in front of you. This then causes issues with vehicles trying to pull out of Rock Hill opposite. Double yellow lines the entire length of the road would be much safer and lend to a better traffic flow to and from the town centre.

Thank you for your query to Northamptonshire County Council’s Street Doctor Service with regard to parking issues on Glendon Road, Rothwell. Last year, in conjunction with Rothwell Town Council, Northamptonshire Highways introduced a series of further parking restrictions in this area. It was agreed that a certain amount of on road parking would still be permitted along this section to provide parking for nearby residents and users of the garage. The parking also acts as traffic calming as it slows drivers approaching from the Glendon direction as they have to give way to approaching traffic from Bridge Street. The parking restrictions will be monitored and if further restrictions are considered necessary this will then be reviewed.
