  • Thank you for your enquiry regarding the drainage in Blatherwyke. The gullies in the area are on a triennial cyclical programme of works and we are due there in April 2021. To read more about gullies please click here https://www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/ councilservices/ northamptonshire-highways/ roads-and-streets/ Pages/ highway-drainage.aspx The response that highways give to flooding is based on risk and our priority is to protect life and wellbeing and to manage property and environmental damage. It should be noted that a gully with silt in is ok. They are designed that way and as long as the outlet is clear the water will drain away, it will just take time. They are not blocked but the amount of rain that fell in January, in a short space of time, meant some gullies could not cope. This means that even recently cleared gullies can, and will be, overwhelmed by the volume of water they have to deal with, and it will take time for water to drain.
