Private signage placed on public highway

Reported via mobile in the Obscured by vegetation or Dirty category by Chris smith at 02:33, Thursday 4 February 2021

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2523313.

Morrison’s have placed a sign on Crown Way Rushden near to their distribution centre.

The sign they have erected is on public land on the grass verge which is formed part of the public highway.

Is this allowed can companies just erect signage on public land ...?
