Road surface is disintegrating
Reported via desktop in the Potholes / Highway Condition category by Paul Heyes at 11:30, Wed 10 February 2021
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2537542.
The highway running through the village of Woodnewton, (about .75 mile in length) from Oundle Road, through the Mainstreet to Apethorpe Road was resurfaced in April/May 2020. Although it looked like a good job had been done at the time, the winter conditions are revealing defects that would not normally be evident for years of usage. Considering we have been on lockdown and traffic has been lighter than usual this an extremely poor result indeed. The contractor should be held responsible, it my humble opinion I suggest they skimped on the amount of bitumen 'binder' applied to hold the aggregate in place. Consequently there’s much evidence of loose granite chips leaving parts of the road 'bald' already.
