Large Goat Willow Tree requiring work to decrease size

Reported via desktop in the Restricted Visibility / Overgrown / Overhanging category anonymously at 10:34, Tuesday 16 February 2021

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2548947.

I have been informed by Crick Parish Council that the highways department has already stated that this large tree needs some remedial work on it. I was told this was due to take place before Christmas. Many people on our street are concerned that this is a health and Safety hazard and needs to be pruned back hard.

  • Currently awaiting a date from the tree surgeon, the recent inclement weather has put us behind on routine works. Contractor to carry out an inspection of the tree prior to work

  • The inclement weather has been unfortunate. However I would not class this as routine works, due to the urgent nature of a potentially unsafe tree. This is a very large tree that is likely to cause damage to properties, traffic and the public if it falls. I and I’m sure other members of the street would appreciate an urgent inspection of the tree to determine it’s condition. Thank you.

Some work was carried out yesterday, 31st March, but hardly any height was taken from the tree, nor was the main problem tackled, i.e. a large hole at the base of the main trunk that will cause damage to property, vehicles and possibly lives, if it falls. Tree surgeons were made aware but this needs resolving immediately due to the danger. Further branch reduction/removal of the one leaning across the entrance are also required.
