The bush of the property on the corner of Thorburn Road and Bewick Road is almost completely blocking the public footpath. Wheelchair users cannot pass without going onto the road

  • Thank you for your enquiry. A letter has been sent to the relevant homeowner requesting that the overhanging vegetation is cut back. A revisit will be carried out 14 days after the receipt of the letter.

  • I am somewhat confused. The latest status update of 27/04 indicates this has been inspected and resolved but I have just been there and the bush has NOT been cut back and the pathways is still more than 50% blocked as per the initial report. I am happy to meet with a representative of the Authority to show the issue

  • Site visit on 30th April and the vegetation has been cut back sufficiently.

  • As an independent wheelchair user I would like you to reconsider this investigation to avoid a formal complaint. I cannot traverse this section of pavements without either (1) Subjecting myself to an injury from the bush, (2) using the grass verge instead of the footpath resulting in muddy wheels and hands and potentially dog mess, (3) traversing on the road.

    As an independent wheelchair user I should have the same right as an able bodied person in using the footpath for its intended purpose, However the overgrown hedge in this section does not permit this
