Impossibly to safely cross the A43 to get to adjoining bridleway in lay-by

Reported via mobile in the Passage-Obstructed/Overgrown category anonymously at 07:48, Saturday 27 February 2021

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2574931.

This is a very fast dangerous road and it’s almost impossible to cross safely as you have to ride down stretch of a43 (an A road with 44t artic lorries) to access lay-by to get to the bridleway The bridleway was there long before the road and lay-by and no consideration has been taken into account for the safety of horse riders crossing the A43, if a clearing could be made on the lay-by so you could ride straight across this would be far safer than having to ride up the busy road as this is beyond dangerous on a single carriage road a road at national speed limit thank you

  • Thanks for reporting this a site visit has been made and unfortunately we are unable to do very little about the traffic as this is a major road but we very much understand your concerns and the difficulty in trying to cross even as a pedestrian. At the location of the bridleway on the western side of the road here you have reported the issue, if you were to look almost straight ahead but a couple of meters to the right there is in fact a cutting through the trees on to the opposite side and into the lay-by giving safer access into the woods.
