Deep Rutting, Large Potholes & Significant Road Surface Cracking
Reported via desktop in the Potholes / Highway Condition category anonymously at 17:13, Wednesday 10 March 2021
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2599855.
This issue was initially reported 3 weeks ago on Wednesday 17th February 2021 and the initial report can be found via the link below.
Today on Wednesday 10th March 2021 the status of the above report was changed to 'fixed' following a works order that had been raised for repairs to be carried out as logged on Thursday 18th February 2021.
I have walked down this road today and can confirm that no work has been carried out to the defects reported on this road and the issue is far from fixed.
Please see attached photos taken today (Wednesday 10th March 2021) which clearly show the problems with the road surface cracking apart and the deep rutting and potholing at the side of the road which make it unusable for a majority of road vehicles due to the high risk of damage being caused to their vehicles.
This means that it causes an obstruction to the flow of traffic as it reduces the room needed for vehicles to pass one another. This is also a busy cut through road linking the large village of Woodford Halse to Eydon and is a key route for parents taking their children to school as well as a number of farm vehicles. The road is also highly popular walking and cycling route.
These defects require proper attention and thorough repair job to bring the road up to the necessary standard required to be fit for purpose, if left it will get worse and it will lead to damage being caused to vehicles and potential injury especially to cyclists and motorbike riders.
I for one will look to sue the county council should any vehicle I own incur damage as a result of these defects or if I myself am injured as a direct or indirect result of them.
