The whole of the road is breaking up and it is down to the base

Reported via desktop in the Potholes / Highway Condition category anonymously at 11:10, Thursday 1 April 2021

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2647047.

This has been breaking up for a long time, it has been reported before and it is getting worse, the previous report that was done by my partner has been totally dismissed and is not even logged now on here - this although a t-junction has daily traffic or transit delivery vans, farm machinery that use it to access the fields and properties further down the lane. The problem as you can see from the pics is getting worse and cannot be ignored - LOOK

  • Today Tuesday 20th April THREE vans turned up they filled ONE small area. I asked what about the rest of the road and they said we have run out of Tarmac. Also there were only 2 locations on the worksheet, they were polite but they could do nothing. The entire road needs to be resurfaced. I have photos from July 2018 and it was deterioration badly then and nearly 34 months later we get half a hole filled. Can we get real repairs of ALL the holes urgently. I await your swift response and expected immediate action.

  • Can you please update me on my previous request to repair the road surface as reported? Today, to my disbelief some contractors turned up and filled a very small part of a very big road surface and then left.. firstly this bit was not reported, secondly they couldn't even do all of it and left a lot of it untouched (what's the actual point) then I read the comments to say a neighbour had spoken to them and they didn't have enough tarmac - Surely when the Northants Council came out and looked the original request to repair, which was about 20 mins after I first reported it online as I saw the van - they would have taken the dimensions or created a correct work sheet for the contractor - its not hard from the picture to see how big the surface is - and since the report, the highway has now worn in other places and has got deeper. This is just not good enough, we pay our road tax, council tax and every tax going. What will it take to get this sorted - this has been reported numerous times before and dismissed yet recently you have repaired a very shallow pothole in a Almond Close which has very little traffic and the pothole was not even that big..

  • Thank you for your enquiry. We are sorry to hear of the concerns that you have with the standard of this recent repair. Regrettably, we did not have the resources available to complete all of the work in this first instance. We can confirm that the rest of the reported defects will be resolved within the next 2 weeks. We would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience caused.

  • Thank you for your update, but can I ask have you actually seen the road? I have marked the worst areas on the photo but the road is crumbling. We all understand budgets but this road has had nothing spend on it for years. It gets worse and worse. It needs to be resurfaced. We are only talking about 40-50m not the M1. If you do plan to just do a patch and dash can you atleast ensure all the highted areas are repaired. As residents we have reached the point were are not willing to accept the current condition any more. To avoid a waste of everyones time drastically escalating this could you PLEASE resurface or repair all the parts of the road which are marked. Thank you.

  • Thank you for your response to our update. We are happy to further clarify that our repairers will be completing works by Monday and have been assured us that any potholes visible on the road surface will be receiving the required attention. Regarding your request for all parts of the road to be resurfaced; we have contacted the relevant department to discuss this matter further. They have concurred that this section of the road does appear to be quite crazed and fretted; therefore, an in-depth inspection of the road condition will be now undertaken. We will then be able to determine whether there is sufficient funding available to carry out surfacing work in the future.
