No Markings in junction so cars block it.
Reported via desktop in the Road Markings - Worn/Faded category by Mr Tim Redward at 13:56, Monday 19 April 2021
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2679335.
Cars are queuing in the junction so when the lights change traffic can't flow through the junction.
There appears to be no markings warning cars not to do this. This causes Traffic delays to be longer than they need to be.
Thank you for reporting a fault. We will use the information you have provided to assess and prioritise this fault in accordance with our published response times for fault reports.

Thank you for your enquiry. It is regrettable that in our hurried up lifestyles, common etiquette is seldom observed and drivers can often unintentionally block other vehicles, as in this case from entering or exiting a road junction. Consequently, we do understand the frustration that this can cause with traffic congestion for drivers in trying to negotiate the intersection at the peak traffic times. Unlike specific road traffic enforcement laws that are monitored by cctv in cities such as central London, the painting of a yellow box would unlikely to have any affect and may even have the tendency to cause further delays by not maximising use of what is very scarce and essential carriageway space. In addition to this, if we were granted permission by the Chief Constable to paint a yellow box at this junction, a precedent would be set and we would then find it difficult to refuse further applications from other similar busy junctions and roundabouts in Northampton and across our county. At a time of budget pressures on the local highway authority the maintenance costs involved would have to be considered, as well as it being resource limiting and expensive to administer. If drivers are ignoring road traffic signs and traffic lights, then this would be an enforcement matter for Northamptonshire Police Safer Communities Team on the non-emergency number 101 or by following the link on the Northamptonshire Police website.
