Several speed signs seem to have been turned round
Reported via desktop in the Damaged / Missing / Facing Wrong Way category by Keith Coles at 23:30, Sun 16 May 2021
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2730089.
Speed signs on Irthlingborough bypass are nonsensical. Heading north, a 40mph limit is shown just AFTER Addington Rd, then a clearway sign appears, just BEFORE Finedon Rd junction. Similarly in the southerly direction. All vehicles pass the 40 sign (downhill), at 50-60mph. You’d be very unwise to slow to 40, in normal traffic! Has been like that for a long time.

My error .. the clearway signs are correct. But National Limit (60mph) signs near the Finedon Rd junction seem wrong. Essentially, the signs instruct most of the bypass is 40, (which not one vehicle obeys!), until a change to 60, just before the junction.

Hello again, PLEASE IGNORE MY ENQUIRY. I’ve driven the route again, and can understand the signage and its positioning. Everything is in order. My point that most drivers exceed the initial 40 limit, is irrelevant. Apologies, and regards.
