Public footpath sign not easily visible
Reported via desktop in the Sign/Waymarking - Damaged/Missing category anonymously at 10:59, Tue 18 May 2021
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2733254.
The green Public Footpath arrow that directs people off the old road down to the reservoir, towards Scaldwell is not easily visible from the track. The one in the layby that directs people down the old road is fine. This has resulted in lots of people entering the nature reserve without a permit and getting lost. It would be beneficial if a new green Public Footpath arrow could be put on a post on the track, so that it is more visible as people walk down the track. Also the roundel on the style is quite faded now, so could perhaps do with a new one. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for reporting this a site visit has been made and new footpath arrows have been erected on the fence to replace the faded ones, unfortunately we only erect the green footpath signs at the roadside as they are street furniture however we have sprayed footpath on the ground to try and help with directing people. It is always recommended that people should carry maps when walking as wayma4king can not always be relied on. It might also be advisable if you erected some signs at where the footpath leave the track stating that Permit Holders from this point onwards.
