Deeply Sunken and Dangerous Verge
Reported via desktop in the Verges - Damaged by Vehicles category anonymously at 13:02, Thu 10 June 2021
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2782382.
The verge West bound from Abthorpe to Wappenham just after the Slapton turning is very deeply sunken and will lead to loss of control. This is very dangerous to cyclists and motorbikes. It is also very dangerous when large on coming traffic could force a road user into the verge leading to loss of control and significant damage to their vehicle. This sunken verge damage is caused by persistent seasonal flooding at this location and large vehicle gouging the verge down by as much as 9 inches. This seasonal flooding is caused by slabs being placed at the lowest point on the verge to prevent water run-off. These slabs are evident at this location and should be removed.
