Drain is blocked, water is rising but it is not overflowing. There are concerns that this will rise when it rains

  • Thank you for your enquiry and for bringing this matter to our attention. We understand that you have concerns about the condition of the drains on St. James’ Road; specifically that you feel they are blocked and potentially pose a flooding risk. Whilst we appreciate your comments and frustration, we have carried out an investigation and can confirm that there are no immediate safety concerns evident. However, we are pleased to confirm that cyclic cleansing of the drains and gullies in this area will commence in the near future (within the next six months). In some cases, we are able to attend before this prospective time; however, at this time, we have no further information other than the timeframe given above.
