Vegetation growing from base of trees causing unsafe exit from New Street

Reported via mobile in the Restricted Visibility / Overgrown / Overhanging category anonymously at 08:23, Thursday 17 June 2021

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2797596.

I have reported this recently and it was actioned promptly but unfortunately the base growth wasn’t cut all the way down - so having to report again only a few weeks later!! It makes pulling out from New Street dangerous!

  • The base of the tree is obliterating oncoming traffic, making it dangerous! Also the slow down sign just past Dowthorpe End is obliterated by a tree and Belisha Beacon at the Zebra Crossing in Broad Street is also obliterated by a tree!

  • Thank you for your enquiry and for bringing this matter to our attention. We understand that you have concerns about the condition of the vegetation on Doddington Road; specifically that you feel it is overgrown and causing a hazard. We appreciate your concerns and can confirm the base growth has been cut and not affecting the highway. The zebra crossing, we will continue to monitor and the slow down sign will be cleared at the end of nesting season, in October. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
