Vegetation near Bus Stop

Reported via mobile in the Restricted Visibility / Overgrown / Overhanging category anonymously at 20:13, Thursday 24 June 2021

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2816586.

The hedge/bushes near the bus stop at the bottom of Cobbs Lane has grown towards the road so much that I needed to stand right by the kerb in order to see up the hill. Very dangerous with speeding cars and huge lorries. The bus driver only saw me at the last moment and had to stop well beyond the bus stop.

  • This is now so bad I no longer use this bus stop, which is only 5 mins max from my home. I have to go up to the village centre and use the bus stop near the primary school. The bus stop is invisible to traffic going down Cobbs Lane. It is only possible to see if the bus is coming if one steps on to the very busy road - lorries, cars, etc It is now more than six weeks since I reported the problem.

  • I fully agree with resident who reported this as the bus stop is totally obscured by branches and leaves and a big cut back is needed to make it visible again. Which is also the case with lamp no. L3 MHG up the hill just below the cemetery, also covered by vegetation rendering the light almost useless.

  • Thank you for your further comments. Unfortunately, on our re-visit, we observed that birds were nesting in this vegetation. Therefore, the vegetation will not be attended to until the nesting season is over (autumn time). We apologise for the delay in resolving this issue and would like to thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
