Reported via desktop in the Blocked/Damaged category by Councillor Stephen Clarke at 15:44, Sunday 15 August 2021

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2936733.

I posted a surface water problem on Fix-My-Street, Northamptonshire twice recently. Despite alerting Highways to the fact that this is a long standing issue which has been passed backwards and forwards between Highways and Anglian Water, they immediately transferred it yet again to Anglian Water and they have assigned a Reference number 20361546 to the job. There are significant issues with running water from an unknown source in the highways verge outside a property, at Brafield on the Green. It has been going on for a significant amount of time with no one taking responsibility. As this matter has been outstanding for years, I have written to Anglian Water today impressing upon them the need to let me have a proper report of their findings so that the necessary action can be taken to sort this matter out once and for all. I have now heard from Anglian Water: From: Anglian Water Customer Services <CustService@anglianwater.co.uk> Sent: 26 July 2021 09:02 To: Cllr Stephen Clarke <Stephen.Clarke@westnorthants.gov.uk> Subject: HG905026674 - Clarke - Outcome - Source of water

HG/905026674 Job References: Water Recycling: 59290436 Water: 59270902 and 59307681 Good morning Steve, Thank you for your query regarding the source of the flowing water. I am sorry for the delay in coming back to you. I can see that Anglian Water have sent both our Water networks team and our Water recycling team to double check the source of the water. They carried out a chlorine test, which found no chlorine present and also listened for leaks and none were found. Then the Water recycling team were sent to double check if there was any issue with the drainage causing the leaking water. They carried out an Ammonia test and found no Ammonia present which indicates that the water is not foul sewage. Therefore Anglian Water believe the water flowing to be a spring, which would be the responsibility of the local highways department at the council. Thanks again for your email. If we can help with anything else in the future, please feel free to visit our website. Hannah, Customer Services Anglian Water Services Limited www.anglianwater.co.uk facebook logotwitter logo I am asking you to communicate with me directly at stephen.clarke@westnorthants.gov.uk to assure me that you will now take action. I want to assure the residents that Highways are now investigating this matter with a commitment to achieve a resolution to a matter which has been outstanding for some time.
