Lack of "no parking" lines across access to five properties
Reported via desktop in the Road Markings - Worn/Faded category by Anton Sikkema at 15:11, Mon 23 August 2021
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2953546.
We are five families living down the little lane between 14 and 26 Broad Street and for many years have requested Wellingborough Council to paint lines across our vehicular access in and out of Broad Street but so far to no avail. We never even had a reply. Now that the road has been resurfaced and a team will soon be sent out to paint all the necessary lines on the new tarmac is like the ideal time to finally stop our regular nightmare of having to track down selfish owners of cars that park across the entrance/exit to our lane, trapping us as there is no other way out. It will also prevent access for emergency vehicles. I have a disabled wife who cannot walk far and one of my neighbours is a cancer nurse who works odd hours. We have many occasions when we have been threatened with violence when stubborn people refuse to move their cars saying there is nothing on the road surface to stop them parking there. Please fix this once and for all.
Thank you for reporting a fault. We will use the information you have provided to assess and prioritise this fault in accordance with our published response times for fault reports.

Ref 2953546 Will I get an answer to my question? Will the lines in question be painted across our access when the team painting all the line markings in the relevant parts of Earls Barton arrive? It would be a waste of time and money to send out a team for such a small job AFTER all the other lines have been painted.

Thank you for your request for the installation of an access bar marking at the entrance to the properties No14 – 26 Broad Street, Earls Barton. Our Maintenance Team have been asked to install a marking across the access as part of the roadmarking works following the recent resurfacing.

Marking has now been installed. Thanks for fixing this after establishihng contact earlier today. This should make life much easier for the five homes behind Broad Sreet affected by parked cars blocking our access. Thank you.
