Large tree growth across footbridge

Reported via desktop in the Restricted Visibility / Overgrown / Overhanging category anonymously at 09:08, Fri 3 September 2021

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2975985.

Dear Sirs, I am asset engineer working for network rail and on review of some of our reports we have noticed numerous large tree's growing within the structure of the footbridge. The root action from the tree growth is a possible de-stabilising mechanism and should be action at a minimum. Removed and treated to prevent re-growth. Any failure has the potential to affect the railway so we would stress the importance of routine maintenance. The bridge currently looks out of use but you still have a responsibility to maintain the structure regardless. Do you have any plans for this structure? Is it going to be renewed or removed? Regards B.W
