Bushland road needs speed bumps!
Reported via mobile in the Sign/Pole Damaged category anonymously at 12:58, Fri 3 September 2021
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2976785.
Sorry, there wasn’t anything that fitted what I wanted to report. Cars are constantly driving up bushland road way faster than 30mph, sometimes I would say at least 50pm. I don’t think this is appropriate especially when there is a school.
Thank you for reporting a fault. We will use the information you have provided to assess and prioritise this fault in accordance with our published response times for fault reports.

Thank you for your enquiry. With issues of speeding and road safety we would suggest that you initially contact your local Safety Community Team on 101 or via the Northants Police website: Local Policing Teams | Northamptonshire Police (northants.police.uk) However, a proactive road safety action that local residents such as yourself may wish consider, refers to material sent to households in our county from the Northamptonshire Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner. This includes information of interest for those in communities who have concerns about speeding vehicles and involves running a Community Speed Watch initiative to empower communities to help cut speeding in their neighbourhood. The Police’s Community Speed Watch initiative provides all that is needed to be able to catch speeding drivers and allowing the public to take control of problem areas in their community. For further information in helping residents to create a local Community Speed Watch scheme or to get in touch with the Office of Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, they can call 01604 888113, email: email@example.com or write to: Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, East House, Force Headquarters, Wootton Hall, Northampton, NN4 0JQ. Regarding a request for traffic calming to be installed in your community. Whilst suggestions to slow down traffic on streets in our towns and villages does have merit, it must be pointed out that physical traffic calming measures such as build-outs, chicanes, speed humps etc. may not be entirely popular with all the local residents, as they could create further traffic noise outside properties and a possible increase in air pollution. Introducing such highway measures will also unfortunately do little to stop inconsiderate and/or inexperienced drivers, determined ‘joy riders’ or ‘outlaw bikers’ etc. or local individuals from speeding or careless driving in general. We can only suggest that you contact your locally elected Councillor with requests for Northamptonshire Highways to consider installing any speed bumps or traffic calming on your street.
