Road Failed and Water Main Burst / White lines
Reported via desktop in the Potholes / Highway Condition category by Gary Coleman at 09:07, Wednesday 22 September 2021
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 3017267.
I have reported the failure of the road surface twice in the past 2 years on this website only to be placated with "not yet, not worn out enough". Well guess what? This morning the water main failed in EXACTLY the same area that I reported. As you can imagine I am very annoyed about this. We will be without water now for at least the next 24 hours, further it will close the local school adjacent to the failure.
We don't report these things for fun and we try to give fore-warning of such failures by reporting it on this website. However, if after 2 fair warnings, you fail to act on it then people will think 'what is the point'.
Finally, after the water main has been replaced, the road has been resurfaced, then can you also refresh the white lines outside some of the drive ways? I reported these also about 6 months ago and we are also waiting for that - you have been here recently as the marking 100m up the road at the Manor Road junction have recently been refreshed.
Thanks in advance.
Thank you for reporting a fault. We will use the information you have provided to assess and prioritise this fault in accordance with our published response times for fault reports.

Still at it some 36 hours later. Apparently 1-2 days to go too. Good husbandry and prior maintenance could have probably stopped this and also the flood damage to the affected properties. Other areas of the road are also failing along the same points. The 500 buses that regularly thump up and down on the failing road surfaces are definitely a contributory factor. This road needs some TLC or I fear that further failures will occur that effectively left Brackley without water for 12 hrs and some properties much longer (those that also suffered flooded basements, etc…).
